Optimize Display Settings

The Windows Desktop uses many display effects that are hardly noticeable. Disabling the less noticeable effects will give your computer a boost in response time.

Optimize Display Settings

  1. Click Start.
  2. Right click on Computer and select properties.
  3. Click Advanced System Settings.
  4. In the Performance box click on Settings.
  5. Uncheck everything except.
  • Enable desktop composition
  • Enable transparent glass (Optional)
  • Show thumbnails instead of icons
  • Smooth edges of screen fonts
  • Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
  • Use visual styles on windows and buttons

  3. Click Advanced System Settings.
