Run Check Disk

Check disk (Chkdsk) won't make your computer run faster, but it can find and fix common errors on your computer's hard drive. Check disk is a time consuming process (1 to 3 hours) and you won't be able to use your computer while it's running. Once you start check disk, don't stop it.

1. Click Start.
2. Click My Computer.
3. Right click on the hard drive you want to check.
4. Select Properties.
5. Select the Tools Tab.
6. Under Error Check Click Check now...
7. Select both options and Click Start When checking the System Drive (C:\), you will need to reboot your computer in order to complete the check.
